Ofsted visited us in March 2025 and found that –
Cambourne Village College is a vibrant, ambitious and deeply nurturing place to learn. They recognised a school where every pupil is encouraged to be themselves, where individuality is celebrated, and where a powerful sense of community shapes daily life.
Pupils were praised as highly supportive, confident and aspirational, acting as excellent ambassadors who contribute enthusiastically to the wider life of the school. This strong culture of belonging helps pupils develop independence, character and confidence, enabling them to thrive both academically and personally.
Staff were commended for knowing pupils exceptionally well and providing precise, thoughtful support that helps every learner achieve highly. Teachers’ passion and subject expertise create an environment rich in curiosity, challenge and inspiration, giving pupils the strongest foundations for academic success.
Behaviour across the school was described as excellent, with pupils demonstrating respect, responsibility and kindness. They arrive to lessons ready to learn, motivated to succeed and appreciative of one another’s diverse backgrounds, beliefs and cultures. The school’s emphasis on wellbeing and safety ensures pupils feel secure, valued and able to flourish.
Ofsted highlighted the school’s broad and ambitious curriculum, which inspires pupils at every stage. Staff guide learners expertly through a wide range of subjects, experiences and opportunities. The introduction of the sixth form extends this journey into Key Stage 5, offering an impressive selection of courses and a carefully designed programme that supports students’ academic progress, personal development and future aspirations.
Teachers were praised for their skill in adapting learning so that all pupils—including those with SEND—produce high‑quality work. Strong collaboration across departments ensures consistency and excellence in teaching, supported by high‑quality professional development.
Enrichment was recognised as a real strength. Thoughtfully designed activities, trips and events enrich classroom learning and ensure that every pupil can access memorable, meaningful experiences. Reading is prioritised, with swift, effective support for any pupil who needs help to become a confident reader.
The school’s approach to personal development was described as exceptional. Pupils feel their voices matter and that they can make a difference. Committees, ambassadors and leadership groups—such as the ‘Not Just Black or White’ committee—champion diversity, promote respect and help shape a school culture that reflects the community it serves.
Ofsted also praised the unified leadership of the trust, governors and school leaders, noting their expertise, ambition and commitment to ensuring the school operates at its very best. Staff feel well supported, with workload and wellbeing carefully considered, enabling them to focus on delivering high‑quality education every day.
