We were thrilled to launch our inaugural Maths4All lecture this week, with a fascinating session all about the Sierpinski’s Triangle — a famous fractal pattern that appears in geometry, probability, and even Pascal’s Triangle.
Led by expert Mark Dawes, the lecture took students on an exciting journey through geometric reasoning and probability point plotting, demonstrating how these mathematical concepts combine to create the intricate, self-repeating pattern of the Sierpinski’s Triangle. Students discovered how this fractal links to Pascal’s Triangle, providing a unique perspective on patterns and number theory.
The Maths4All lectures aim to inspire curiosity and deepen students’ understanding of maths beyond the classroom, showing how maths is connected to a wide range of ideas and real-world phenomena. We are incredibly grateful to Mark Dawes for sharing his passion and expertise, making this first lecture a huge success.
